Suzuki Canada Inc. Obtains TITLE SPONSORSHIP Rights to Shootout!

Canada's ultimate Pro Street race just got a whole lot better thanks to
Suzuki Canada Inc., new TITLE SPONSOR of the 2008 Suzuki Canadian Fastest Streetbike Shootout.

"This is an incredibly positive move for the event and the sport of motorcycle drag racing in general," stated Event Organizer Graeme Jones. "The Suzuki Hayabusa has been the motorcycle of choice for Pro Street teams for several years, so it's great to see Suzuki supporting this facet of the sport and giving back to its riders."

Since the debut of the Hayabusa in 1999, Suzuki racers have dominated Pro Street racing on both sides of the border. In the five-year history of the Canadian Fastest Streetbike Shootout, Hayabusa racers have finished first and second every year.

“With the strong Suzuki presence one sees when attending a motorcycle drag racing event, supporting the Canadian Fastest Streetbike Shootout is a way for Suzuki Canada to show our appreciation to the dedicated racers and fans who attend this event,” noted Nathan Naslund, GM of Public Relations and Racing for Suzuki Canada.

“Drag racing and Suzuki have a long history in North America," Naslund added. "With bikes like our Hayabusa & GSX-R dominating the Pro Street classes, you can expect to see Suzuki mounted racers continue to click off lower and lower ETs."

Suzuki's 2008 Sport series is represented by the legendary GSX-R600, 750 and 1000 models, while the 1300 cc Hayabusa remains the company's flagship big-bore motorcycle. Many upgrades to the 'Busa in '08 were made specifically with the drag racer in mind.

"Like Suzuki itself, Pro Street racers are on the cutting edge of performance and technology," added Jones. "As the competition improves, Suzuki has continued to remain king of the quarter-mile, allowing its racers to stay ahead as well."
