2008 RULEBOOK

The Canadian Fastest Streetbike Shootout is a class reserved for production-based Pro Street motorcycles.

The CFSS provides a place for high performance Pro Street-style bikes to compete in the safe confines of the dragstrip, promoting an alternative to illicit street racing. Rules pattern popular U.S. Pro Street class rules.

D.O.T. motorcycle street tires only.
Motorcycles must be based on production sportbikes, self-starting and driven back on return road (no towing).
Maximum 68" wheelbase, minimum 2" ground clearance
70" wheelbase max. for nitrous entries
Stock OEM frames required, aftermarket suspensions OK
Must retain stock appearing bodywork (no one-piece bodies or tank shells)
Any engine modifications OK.
No minimum weight.
Functional head and tail lights necessary, headlight doesn't need to be on during runs.
No wheelie bars, delay boxes, 2-steps, air clutches or automatic transmissions.
Slider clutches legal for nitrous entries.

1. SHOOTOUT INFO
The Fastest Streetbike Shootout will be run quarter-mile, heads-up, first to the finish, on a .400 Pro tree with a qualified field of 16 motorcycles. 3 qualifying rounds will be held early on Sunday with eliminations to follow. Those who do not qualify for the field may race in Streetfighter ET free of extra charge.

Bikes must be driven from staging lanes to the burnout box and back up return road (no towing).
All riders must wear full leathers.

General safety tech will be performed by Grand Bend tech staff. Your bike will then be teched on specific Shootout rules (wheelbase, ground clearance etc) prior to 1st round qualifying on Sunday.


2. ENGINE
Any internal engine modifications OK. Nitrous, turbochargers, superchargers permitted. Nitrous bottle must be contained within the frame rails, no hose clamps permitted. The use of throttle activated nitrous prohibited.

On-board starting systems required. No external starters, batteries, or boosters allowed. No rolling or push starts. Automatic transmissions prohibited, slider clutches allowed on nitrous-assisted bikes. Air/electric shifters OK.
Oil blanket/catch pan recommended for highly modified engines.

3. CHASSIS/FRAME/SUSPENSION
Maximum 68" wheelbase for turbo bikes, max. 70" for nitrous bikes. Minimum 2" ground clearance for all bikes. Stock OEM frames required and may be modified (read on). Aftermarket suspensions OK.
Swingarm-style rear suspension required, no solid rear suspension allowed. Any stock, modified stock, or aftermarket swingarms will be allowed.
Frame must display VIN in original location.
Strengthening gussets/tubes may be added but none removed. Accessory brackets (radiator, shock reservoir etc) may be changed relocated or removed unless they serve as a strengthening member.
Steering head angle may not be less than stock rake or more than 40 degrees maximum rake. Minimum seat height, with rider in position and seat compressed, is 20 inches (from lowest point of seating position to ground).
4130 Chrome moly highly recommended for strengthening members and brackets, or a compatible aluminum on aluminum. OEM frames Frames may be polished.
No minimum weight.
Front end lowering devices, such as straps must be properly secured and pass track tech. Steering dampers recommended.


* Frame rule will be waived for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, who will be permitted to use custom-built frames. No backbone fuel cells, no solid rear suspensions. This rule is for Harley-Davidson motorcycles only (not Buell).

4. BODYWORK
Must retain stock appearing bodywork (no one-piece bodies or tank shells).
Lower portion of fairing may be trimmed for exhaust system clearance, or for increased ground clearance. Replacement bodywork permitted but must retain stock shape. Engine air inlets or scoops may be added. Factory gas tanks or Prostar-approved aftermarket tanks must be used, altereations limited to sloping at rear of tank. Brand name must appear on both sides of bike. Sump area may be modified, but tank must remain functional.

5. ELECTRICAL
Functional charging system, headlights, tail lights and brake light necessary.
Turn indicators optional. Head & tail lights must remain in stock position, aftermarket lights permitted. **2-steps NOT PERMITTED** Auto shifters strictly prohibited.

6. TIRES & WHEELS
DOT motorcycle tires only. Slicks prohibited. Beadlock highly recommended on all rear wheels, espec. those over 6.25". Tech must be informed prior to tire change for verification.

7. GENERAL MOTORCYCLE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
General Safety Rules & Requirements will be handled by Grand Bend's technical staff and will follow 2008 IHRA rules as noted in their rulebook.
MUST HAVE VALID IHRA,NHRA or PROSTAR licence and present it if requested.
- Chain guard and clutch cover required on all entries.
- Lanyard kill switch for vehicles running 9.99 or faster (highly recomended on all motorcycles)
- Tank mounted fuel shut off for vehicles 9.99 or faster.
- Current Snell-approved helmet, full face shield or goggles, leather or kevlar jacket and pants, over ankle shoes and leather gloves required for all riders. (if you don't have leather pants, borrow some! No jeans!)
- "Snap back" throttle required on all motorcycles.
- Valid Prov/State motorcycle operators licence.

All design and construction techniques must be performed in a safe manner. Heavy items, such as nitrous bottles, batteries, fuel tanks, ballast, etc. should be mounted in a manner to prevent separation from the bike in case of a crash or severe wheelie. In particular, nitrous bottles must have some form of “anti-drop” device to prevent bottle from falling through the bottle mount or clamp. Track tech personnel have the right to inspect and/or disqualify any entrant at any time for any reason they feel to be in the interest of safety.
