HINDLE
CANADIAN FASTEST STREETBIKE SHOOTOUT
WINNER - RONNIE MITCHELL - BELLEVILLE, MI |
| The
third annual installment of the ever-growing Hindle
Canadian Fastest Streetbike Shootout at Grand
Bend Motorplex brought out some of the most impressive
street legal machinery from Ontario and Michigan
to battle for a chance at the $1000 winner's purse.
The
first round of qualifying gave racers a chance
to guage the track surface. Several monster wheelies
showed them that the track was definitely there
and would take anything they could throw at it.
Ronnie
Mitchell (Belleville, MI) laid the smack down
with an opening round 7.82 at a blazing 189.63
MPH on his turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa. The flawless
pass was the first ever 7-second run recorded
on Canadian turf. He was followed by Richard Peppler
(Listowel, ON), who represented for Canada with
a personal best 8.153-seconds at 185.72 MPH on
his RCC Turbos 'Busa. Also qualifying in the 8-second
zone were Lonnie Angel (8.99/156) and Jody Jendon
(8.99/162). |

Grand
Bend Motorplex points racers Paul Crane, Cory
Lacroix and Stephen Pfeil all made the field,
Crane the quickest of the three at 9.11/153. Cycle
Max, a sponsor of the event, was represented by
Jeff Bloor, whose Hindle-equipped and nitrous-fed
ZX-12 ran a best-ever 9.36 and clocked an impressive
157.20 MPH trap speed.
Mitchell
made quick work of the competition in eliminations
to earn a berth in the finals. He defeated the
Racer's Choice Suzuki Bandit of Craig Mark in
round one and beat Angel in round two before earning
the bye in the semis. |
| On
the other side of the ladder, Peppler ran another
personal best 8.07 (note: the following weekend
he ran a 7.85 in Michigan to become the first
Canadian in the 7's on a streetbike) in round
one and the got past Mike Hailslip's nitrous'd
ZX12 in the semis, setting up an all-turbo, Canada
vs. USA final round. |
|
Mitchell
was on his game and wouldn't be swayed, leaving
Peppler at the tree and running a new Canadian
Streetbike Shootout record at 7.794/189. Peppler
slowed from his earlier pace with an 8.22/185
to earn runner-up for the third year in a row.
Special
thanks to all our our sponsors, the racers who
came out and to the Grand Bend Motorplex management
and staff for an incredible day of racing! |
